Renee Paints Piano for

Renee the Elephant’s Art for Art!
On October 13, 2009 the Zoo’s resident artist Renee the elephant brought her fancy brushwork to a special piano honoring Toledo jazz legend Art Tatum! The piano will be on display in the Great Hall of the Zoo’s Museum of Science through The Lights Before Christmas, and later it will be auctioned off to support the Art Tatum Jazz Heritage Foundation.

Renee’s artistry is not only fun to watch, but it also provides important enrichment for her. Through painting, she is able to interact with her environment, manipulate objects, and receive new stimuli. It’s something we do for all our animals to help contribute to their well-being.
