Endangered Encounters
The Toledo Zoo is pleased to provide Home Schooled children with this unique and interactive year-long program, Endangered Encounters. This specially designed curriculum is aligned with National and State Standards and will provide participants an in depth study of our World’s diverse population of animals which are endangered or protected such as the North Atlantic Right Whale, the Javan Rhino, Baiji Dolphin and of course the Orangutans.

Each student will investigate, explore, create, and research how these animals are being affected today and what can be done to protect and conserve these wonders of nature. Students ages 5 through 18 will be able to experience a specifically designed classroom lesson which will include live animal encounters, interaction with Zoo staff and the utilization of biofacts. This will truly give the students a unique opportunity to join us in caring for animals and conserving the natural world.

• A minimum of 10 students for each class is required. The Toledo Zoo reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient enrollment. We will contact you one week prior to class if it is cancelled.
• The fee for all programs is $8 for members and $13 for non-members per student per class, unless you are signing up for the entire year. See program fees above. Program fees do not include admission to The Toledo Zoo, which must be paid separately at the Zoo's main entrance.
• Class size is limited to 20 students, and registration is on a first-come-first-served basis.
• Classes begin promptly at their scheduled times. Please respect this as it is extremely difficult to locate your child’s class on grounds or on a tour once the class has begun.
