(This workshop will begin at The Toledo
Zoo and will travel off-site to Metropark locations.)
Thursday, August 13
8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Fee: $30
The Toledo Zoo and the Metroparks of the Toledo Area are teaming
up to provide a dynamic day of butterflies for K-6 educators. This
exciting hands-on workshop will include a morning at the Toledo
Zoo touring the butterfly conservation/propagation facility to learn
about captive breeding. Next, a program of butterfly basics - including
each participant receiving a butterfly curriculum, DVD and poster
- will help prepare you for an afternoon in the field with a naturalist.
We will travel out to visit a release site in the Oak Openings Metropark
to learn about transects, habitat restoration and how endangered
species are reintroduced to the wild. A trip to view butterflies
in their habitats will complete this comprehensive experience designed
to prepare and inspire you to better teach our students.
*Deadline for registration is one week
