During the holiday season, the Zoo is transformed into a winter wonderland. The Lights Before Christmas holiday event features over one million lights, over 200 images of some of your favorite animals, ice-carving demonstrations on Thursday evenings, carolers, holiday treats, the Swanton Area Railroad model trains, and visits with Santa in the Indoor Theatre**. Also be sure to check out our 85-foot Norway spruce located behind the Conservatory. Adorned with over 32,000 lights, this spruce boasts more lights than the famous Christmas tree in New York City’s Rockefeller Center! You can also find unique gifts and souvenirs in the North Star Trading Post® gift shop.  Don't miss out on this family tradition!

Back by popular demand! The dynamic Dancing Lights show, featuring state-of-the-art LED wide-angle mini-lights, synchronized to classic holiday tunes. The show, which is repeated throughout the evening for visitors’ convenience, is located in a large grove of trees near Cheetah Valley. And while you're here, don't forget to visit Santa through December 23!

At this year's opening ceremony, KeyBank is sponsoring the "KeyBank Community Stimulus Package" to invest in the Toledo community and encourage people to support local businesses. The first 1,200 visitors to the Zoo's tree-lighting ceremony on November 20 will receive an envelope containing either one, two three or four $2 bills! A total of $5,000 will be distributed to Zoo visitors. (Please note: all participants of the KeyBank Stimulus Package must be over the age of 18, and only two envelopes may be rewarded per family.)

Recipients are encouraged to spend their $2 bills that night or at local businesses and take a small step toward helping the local economy. Key is committed to—and invests in—the communities it serves. Key also supports many organizations—such as The Toledo Zoo—that make this region a better place to work, live and play.
