Zoo-Eds provide educational programs
both on and off Zoo grounds. Programs may be planned
but may also be spontaneous interactions with Zoo visitors.
Zoo Eds use live animals and animal artifacts, or biofacts,
to teach the young and not-so-young about our natural
world and the importance of conservation.
Zoo Eds must complete a series of 9 training
sessions that cover every area of the Zoo. Training is provided
by department staff and includes information about our exhibits,
our animals, our unique heritage, as well as teaching and
communication techniques. Zoo Eds also receive specialized
training in animal handling.
