Overview
The Toledo Zoo has assembled this web site using some of the most current web technologies in order to increase our ability to help you quickly find the information you need, and to enhance our communication efforts through the Internet. The world wide web is always changing and upgrading. Our upgrades are consistent with technology found in many other popular web sites, but this page was created to help our visitors and supporters in case they have difficulty viewing various components of our web site.

Browser Compatibility
Browsers are the programs that you use on your computer to view the Internet. Popular browsers include Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, and Safari (Macintosh). Our web site has various features that may or may not be compatible with older versions of browsers, such as internet Explorer 5. To properly view our web site (and most others on the Internet today) you should upgrade to the most recent version of your browser (example: Internet Explorer 8).

JavaScript needs to be enabled
An important part of the Toledo Zoo web site is its drop down menus at the top of the screen. To access the menus, roll your mouse over the text (Plan Your Visit or Event, Get Involved, etc.) If the menus do not work then you may have JavaScript disabled in your browser. Each browser will have different menus where JavaScript can be set to disabled or enabled. If you see the words "JavaScript OK" in the green box at right, then your browser currently has JavaScript enabled and you should be able to use the menus to navigate through our web site.

Cookies should not be disabled
Cookies are small bits of code stored on your computer to help web transactions become more efficient. Cookies are not spyware or 'programs' that invade your privacy, they are safe and they are necessary for online transactions. If you have cookies disabled in your browser's settings, you will not be able to make any online purchases through our web site.

Install Flash Player
Many web sites, including ours, use a software called Flash to incorporate video, interactive presentations, and animation. If you can see an animated, blinking owl in the blue box on the right, then you already have the latest version of Flash Player installed on your computer. If you can't see anything in the blue box, click here to open a separate window where you can download Flash Player for free. Installing Flash Player is quick and easy and does not pose any risk to your computer.

Downloading Documents from The Toledo Zoo web site
Throughout our web site we offer various documents in PDF format. In order for you to be able to read a PDF, you need a software called Adobe Acrobat Reader. You can download it to your computer for free by visiting this web site: http://get.adobe.com/reader/

Secure Online Transactions
The Toledo Zoo strives to protect our visitors and supporters so we have invested in secured financial services and secured web technology to make your transactions safe and secure, but also quick and user friendly. The Toledo Zoo's web site is protected with an SSL certificate, which is a standard method for securing a web site. SSL's are designed to safely encrypt your private information while it is being processed during an online transaction. Once a transaction is complete, credit card numbers are not kept on record (electronically or on printed materials) , so your credit card number and personal information are always safe when you shop with us.

Toledo Zoo Web Cams
The Toledo Zoo web site offers several web cameras that allow our internet audience to see some of our animals in their exhibits. The cameras will not show up automatically when you first try to access them. You most likely will have to install the Active X axiscamcontrol from the camera manufacturer for proper display and signal. The web cams also require that JavaScript is enabled.
