Every step leads you further into the mysteries of the deep blue, from flooded forests of the Amazon and deep seas of the Pacific to fish that glow in the dark and stinging Sea nettles. The Aquarium first opened May 31, 1939 and was the last WPA project at the Zoo and the 30,000th one in Ohio! At the time it was built, this was the only public aquarium in Ohio and the largest freshwater Aquarium in the US. It was renovated and reopened in spring 2015.
