Elephant Volunteer Keeper

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled at a college or university, or have graduated within 1 year with a degree in biology, pre-vet, vet tech, environmental science, or related program
  • Sophomore, junior, or senior status, or 2nd year of an Associate’s degree program

Schedule

  • 7:00 – 11:00 a.m. Mon – Fri preferred
  • Total of 20 hours per week

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the daily care of the animals including cleaning, diet preparation, and enrichment preparation, There could be times this position will assist with greater one horned rhino and naked mole rate husbandry and projects.
  • Assist keepers with exhibit maintenance, cleaning and organizing food storage areas, office cleaning, etc.
  • Assist keepers with special projects as needed. Experience with power tools preferred.
  • Observe training sessions.
  • Actively engage guests in educational conversations.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and stand for long hours.
